The Green “A”
So the Brew Druid Project is a collaboration with an acquaintance. We’ve both brewed in the past separately. We have different ideas about what we want to do with the project, but we do share some philosophies about the brewing process. We are trying to get it together to enough to brew a batch by the end of the month. It means, however, that we both need to rummage through out brew supplies and make a plan. I have some doubts about my partner’s commitment to doing that. I have some doubts about the condition of his brew equipment as well. I can count on him to grab on to a whimsical idea and try to shout it into existence. He came to me last weekend and told me about a bottle cap he found buried in mud in his back yard. It was green with an “A” written in black marker. Apparently it is from a homebrew he made 12 or 13 years ago. He doesn’t remember what kind of beer it was but he thinks he has a collection of old brew recipes that include cap color and markings for later identification. I have been told that he was fated to find the cap. My partner believes that we were meant to recreate the recipe as the first Brew Druid project. He still has to find the recipe to make this happen. I expect there is about a 50/50 chance of that actually happening. If he does find it, I expect he is going to be very insistent and that I will not care enough to talk him off it. I kind of hope the recipe stays lost. He says he thinks it is an IPA. Don’t get me wrong, I love an IPA as much of the next guy but the style is just so played out and unimaginative. I’d like to start with something a little more interesting.
